Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 4
Reading has been one of my life-long passions. Reading develops so many skills, such as critical thinking, making connections, and expanding vocabulary. In addition, reading improves concentration and memory, develops empathy, and boosts imagination and creativity. In this private class, I aim to instill in my learners the same excitement for books that I share!

I use a PowerPoint to explain the main concepts, a reading passage, and a Kahoot in the end. Each class is tailored to the student’s individual needs. Overall, though, we’re going to read different passages (fiction and non-fiction) that will help the learner master the following reading comprehension skills:

Week 1 of August 15th—Main Idea and key details in a text;
Week 2 of August 22nd—Determine the central message in a story
Week 3 of August 29th—identify context clues
Week 4 of September 5th—identify cause and effect
Week 5 of September 12th—identify the main purpose of a text
Week 6 of September 19th—Identify points of view
Week 7 of September 26th— Describe how characters respond to challenge
Week 8 of October 3rd—Compare and contrast the most important points in two texts

Look forward to seeing your child in my class! :-)

“The role of education is for children to understand the world around them—that’s clearly essential—and the world within them so that they can become compassionate, fulfilled, and engaged individuals.” Sir Ken Robinson
Hi, there!

Teaching and working with children is one of my biggest passions. I hold a Master’s in Education with an emphasis in TESOL and a Bachelor’s in Teaching English and Romanian Language and Literature. I taught English to children and adults in Romania, Germany, and the US for more than six years!

Oriental philosophy and culture have always fascinated me and I have been a meditator for more than 12 years. I have studied different traditions such as Vipassana, Kadampa Buddhism, and Shambhala. I have deep faith in the power of meditation to create more emotionally balanced minds.

I’m also really hooked on creative writing and poetry, in particular. I have been writing children's literature and poetry for more than a decade.

I’m also a passionate cook! I have been cooking Indian vegetarian food for more than 13 years. Love me spices and flavors and creative cooking.

Entertaining students, that’s me! My classes are fun, interactive, and always leave students with some food for thought.

I love books, hikes, table tennis, chess, and basketball! I speak Romanian, Hungarian, German, Hindi, and I’m currently learning Spanish.

Look forward to meeting you!
