Description

Class Experience

Students learn better and retain knowledge better when they are interested in a topic.  This class is designed with that in mind.  If you have a gamer this class is a great place for them to read about gaming while learning important reading skills.

During each class, we will read one passage about a game and discuss it.  
The class will begin with a read of the article and then I will facilitate a discussion among the students.  Students will learn through discussion and question prompts...

Students will improve their reading comprehension skills.

We will use Pear Deck.  Students are not required to have a membership or anything. However, they should be on a device where they can type and respond to discussion prompts.

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:Pear Deck

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Articles will vary depending on what students are interested in.  Some sample sources would be Newsela, commonlit, news channel pages, Smithsonian, and articles direct from manufacturers.
