Each of the classes is independent and new learners may join at any time. Comprehension is the goal of reading. This on-going course is focused on the critical reading skills and strategies needed for students to move beyond emergent reading skills or the LEARNING TO READ stage, to the READING TO LEARN or comprehension stage. Learners will learn and practice comprehension strategies for reading and understanding fiction and non-fiction texts. They will learn strategies to move them from learning to read, to reading to learn. These strategies can be used to comprehend any texts and will become a valuable part of their reading, writing and studying skills.
Homework Offered
Independent practice will be sent to learners each week. This activity is optional and will be completed outside of class time.Assessments Offered

Learners will need: -access to a printer to print a class materials. It is important that the booklet be stapled and available at each class. -several pencils -eraser -highlighter -colored pencils or crayons.
