Reading Comprehension: Fiction
In this 6-week course, we will practice many skills associated with fiction text using reading comprehension practice texts/activities. Passages are high-interest and culturally diverse and the questions include graphic organizers.

In a supportive and scaffolded learning environment, students will learn many skills associated with fiction texts including context clues, story elements, and theme. The class is very interactive and hands on, students will be using their own copy of the texts and activities while following along with my annotations on the screen. I encourage the "I do, we do, you do" learning style so students will have plenty of practice opportunities.

Introduction
Students will be introduced to me and my class. We will do an initial practice of inferences and story elements. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
First read
We will do a first read of the first passage while I ask comprehension questions throughout. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Skill check
We will practice context clues using the passage. We will also practice story elements and theme. 45 mins online live lesson
Lesson 4:
First read of second passage
We will do a first read of the second passage while I ask comprehension questions throughout. 45 mins online live lesson

A multi-page document will be shared for students to use that includes passages and questions. Please have it printed prior to class!
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
