*Please note that the assigned book for this class is the second book in the series. It is recommended that students finish reading the first book "Sideways Stories from Wayside School" before joining this class "Wayside School is Falling Down".

- Learners will read through the novel (Wayside School is Falling Down by Louis Sachar) in 4 weeks following the pre-determined schedule, but it is fine to read ahead. Please get a copy of the book from the bookstore or library.

- Learners will watch one to two instructional videos each week related to reading comprehension techniques and strategies for completing the weekly tasks.

- Learners will submit their individual assignments to the teacher for private feedback.

- Learners will participate in activities together including an educational game.

- Weekly handouts for the activities will be provided every week

Interaction:

- Learners will have the opportunity to partake in the reading comprehension game through Quizizz. This is a friendly game for learners to compete with other classmates or to test their own knowledge of the reading material.

- Learners will also post one of the assigned tasks for that week as a response to the weekly discussion question. If more than one learner is enrolled in the course, students are encouraged to comment on each other's task responses.

- The teacher will provide written/video feedback to each student after the weekly tasks are graded.

Weekly Schedule:

- Week 1 - chapter 1-8, dictionary look-up, reading comprehension game

- Week 2 - chapters 9-15, chapter summary, reading comprehension game
