Description
Class Experience
This class is taught in English.
Students will engage in learning dialogues with teacher and peers. Students will restate the meaning of the text in their own words. Students will verbalize how their thoughts change throughout the course of the story (i.e. synthesize).
In my experience as a 15 year teaching veteran, small groups and fun discussions are key to building a lifelong love of reading. Join me for the building blocks for these important skills. I promise my love for teaching and reading will shine through in hopes your child will come away feeling excited for reading as well!
Optional homework will be assigned. It is NOT REQUIRED for the course, but is available for extra practice if the parents or students would like to utilize it.
A one-page document is provided for note taking in class. Please print this beforehand so your child can follow along with the teacher. If desired, print more for your own use on other stories after class! In order to maintain compliance with copyright, please obtain a copy of the book, Nobody Hugs a Cactus by Carter Goodrich. Please bring a pencil and coloring utensils as well!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be assessed by the teacher through observation and some written classwork. Feedback will be written and sent to parents after class concludes which will include achieved goals and suggested next steps.
25 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
