Reading Comp. 1:1 A Trip to the Zoo #3-- 3 To 7 Grade
Class experience
US Grade 3 - 7
Beginner - Advanced Level
Class: Reading Comprehension. I focused on students remembering what they read. As a teacher I see students struggling with to comprehend what they just read. With guidance your students will read the story aloud. I will stop at various parts in the story to ask questions on what was just read. My style is relaxed and fun. This is a very interactive class. Students do need to be able to read at a third-grade level, yes some students in second grade may be able to read well...
This class is taught in English.
Students will learn to pay attention to what they are reading: the setting, plot, characters, and events. Students will learn to pick out important aspects of the story, to recall, and talk about the story in chronological order. Students will identify what is happening in the story and, why certain things are happing in the story--how the different events are related. I will encourage students to be avid readers.
I have a Master's Degree, semi-retired, and I work with students from kindergarten through high school as a substitute teacher, and after school tutoring. I have worked with students on plays and skits, and teaching on-stage acting classes. The plays have presented to the public in theaters and schools. My philosophy: “No one can take away your education.” I encourage students to have fun learning and to take ownership in their education. I have a great rapport with students. I enjoy telling stories, flying kites, cooking on a campfire, building parade floats, tutoring after school, attending students' sports events with their parents. I hear from kids and parents, “Where do you get your energy?” Teacher James
