Reading Comprehension. I focused on students remembering what they read. Read some and answer questions; then read more with more questions. Great practice for Science, Math, History, Social Studies. Your student will read the story aloud. I will guide them in reviewing the story. At various parts in the story, I will ask general and specific questions on what was just read. Students will learn to find the setting, the plot, various events, theme and characters. Students will learn to pick out important aspects of the story and to recall and talk about the story in chronological order. Students will identify what is happening in the story, and why certain things are happing in the story--how different actions are related. I will encourage students to be avid readers.
I have a Master's Degree, am semi-retired, and now I work with students from kindergarten through high school as a substitute teacher, afterschool tutoring, have written plays and skits with students, and have taught on-stage acting classes. he plays have presented to the public in theaters and schools. My philosophy: “No one can take away your education.” I encourage students to have fun learning and to take ownership in their education. I have a great rapport with students.
