US Grade 3 - 7
Beginner - Advanced Level
Reading Comprehension. I focus on students remembering what they read. Great practice for Science, Math, History, Social Studies, etc. Students often struggle to comprehend what they just read. Students will read the story aloud. I will guide them in reviewing the story. At various parts in the story, I will ask specific questions on what was just read. My style is relaxed and fun and interactive. Students should be able to read at a third-grade level, some students in second grade maybe able to read well enough to participate. If a student has difficulty with a word, I will work with them to read the word. This Story, #2, is "A Trip to a Pet Shop". Authored by me... Teacher James and an Out School student. Other Stories: #1: RICO A Lost Dog #3: A TRIP TO THE ZOO; #4: MY FUNNY DOG JACKSON *FOR A CLASS AT A SPECIFIC TIME PLEASE LET ME KNOW VIA OUTSCHOOL. Teacher James *If we do not finish the story in the 50 minutes you may schedule that class again and we will start where we left off. Teacher James
Learning Goals
Students will learn to pay attention to what they are reading: the setting, plot, characters, and events. Students will learn to pick out important aspects of the story, to recall, and talk about the story in chronological order. Students will identify what is happening in the story and, why certain things are happing in the story--how the different events are related. I will encourage students to be avid readers.
