Join 🤠Cowboy Joe the famous Outschool large puppet, Dr. Ruth and all her avatar friends for this exciting Self Paced reading practice class. We will read sentences and short stories with the themes of famous characters such as Mario, Paw Patrol, Minecraft and Pokemon. This class was passionately created by Dr. Ruth with the mindset of ensuring that learners will be able to read along while the stories unfold. There are visual sensory transitions to help the child engage with the class. Great for visual learners, struggling readers and fussy kiddos who shy away from structured reading classes!😆 The age of the student will be no problem as long as the parent or caregiver feels that their child may benefit from the course. Any child of any age is welcome in my class. This class is helpful for children who struggle with reading. The stories will transition to short video clips showing the various characters in the above popular themes and games. However, keeping in mind that reading is the focus. We will look at key phonograms, rimes and unique words while decoding words as the teacher or helpers read the words and unique names of characters. Little does the learner know that they are being taught to "see" patterns of words while building their reading decoding skills. All while having a grand 'ole time with 🤠Cowboy Joe and friends!⚡ One of the best ways to make reading fun for your early reader is to encourage them to read books that pique their interest. If your child is interested in dinosaurs, find some books about dinosaurs. If they like cars, look for books about cars. Making the book’s content relatable to their interests will help them engage with it more. So that is why I created this class. I want the learner to LOVE to read by having them read topics of interest that they enjoy. This will help them to further their reading skills if they happen to be a bit behind in their reading skills. I will introduce easy passages for those that are at the early stages of reading and progress to the other levels listed: Kindergarten: A - 4. 1st Grade: 4 - 16. 2nd Grade: 16 - 24. For class details see Syllabus. All the videos are located in the Posts. Videos are from 36 - 46 minutes in length. All learners will receive themed worksheets or study sheets and have a grand 'ole time. 🔹Paw Patrol Characters - Reading Fun! Short story and watch Skye persevere!
Get to know each Paw Patrol character by saying their unique names and following the words displayed as they are read by Cowboy Joe and Dr. Ruth. The "Paw Patrol Mighty Movie" trailer will be shown and various clips . We will also read "Paw Patrol Save the Dinosaurs." We will read sentences and decode words. We will end the class with a lovely song dedicated to Skye and learn that we can achieve our dreams with perseverance and never doubting ourselves! What a great time! Lesson 2:
🔹Mario Characters - Read the Characters and Decode words. Loads of Fun!
Get to know each Mario character by saying their unique names and following the words and sentences to the Mario Brother's Movie story as they are read by Dr. Ruth and Cowboy Joe. Dr. Ruth will further reinforce how to decode the words. In the "Break Time" section the Mario Bros. emotional Zones of Regulation will be shown. Short Mario Kart game clips will be displayed throughout the class as transitions to the reading activities. This will be a fun and unique reading class with Mario! Game on! Lesson 3:
🔹Minecraft Short Story - Let's BUILD our reading comprehension skills!
Let's read a short story with the Minecraft characters and also answer the questions to build our reading comprehension skills. We will also transition to watching our favorite Minecraft characters having fun with short gaming clips displayed throughout the class. Following the same themes of other classes we will read more words and round out this class with a fun ending video clip of Minecraft! Each learner will receive a worksheet with the Minecraft theme. 🔹Pokemon Social Story Time - Read and decode the unusual names. Poke ball fun!
Let's end the class with reading positive affirmations, such as "I am evolving into a better me everyday!" Just like Weedle evolves into Beedrill. We will decode and read the unique Pokemon characters and see what is in our Poke ball. We will watch a Poke Ball travel through a path in a fun video clip. We will end the class with a grande finale short video clip of Pokemon and all the other characters from our prior classes. Oh! what fun! Other Details
Learning Needs
This class is very helpful for children with neurodivergent needs such as dyslexia and ADHD as it's a self pace recorded class that may be shown over again. Also, I have integrated helpful reading decoding assistance while I read the words.
