Class Experience

This class is designed to help your child understand how to use pictures to help them understand the story, listen to the reader, and discuss with other students what they learned! Each class meets 2 times a week and will give your child the core foundations needed to read.
You can expect each class to go as follows:
Introduction to each other
Introduce the book to the reader (look at the book, make predictions about what it might be about)
Identify the author and Illustrator
Listen to and answer questions about the book (make more predictions, and look at the pictures to help us)
Discuss the book (did we predict correctly, what was your favorite part)
Do art or simple writing activity to finish the lesson

Depending on the length of the book activities may occur during the second meeting time.

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I teach all kinds of classes in the core subjects for grades K-5. All the core subjects are passions of mine but I also enjoy teaching art. I graduated from BYU-Idaho in July 2019 with a bachelors in Elementary Education with an emphasis in math. My degree allows me to teach all subjects K-6th and junior high school math grades 6th-9th (some places in Idaho have 9th grade in the Junior High). I have been substitute teaching for the past year.
My teaching philosophy is that all children can learn and improve with the right help and guidance. I enjoy challenging my students and helping them reach their goals.
My father was in the military so I went to many schools across the US and even in England. I moved a total of 17 times in my life and lived in 10 different states and one country outside the United States!
