Reading Camp

Has your child ever been interested in making money? Maybe they have even gone so far as to set up a lemonade stand! We will be exploring business strategies.

*** I will screen share the book. You do not need a copy.

Students will take turns reading and discussing the story, and the many marketing tips and business terms that come up throughout this award winning book. 

Students will take part in the daily reading to build confidence and fluency. They will reflect on what they have read, and discuss the conflicts and possible resolutions with their classmates.

In each class we will "generally" follow this schedule:

Reading - 30 minutes
Each student will take turns reading pages of the book, as I share it on the screen. I will help with any difficult words. We will take small breaks throughout for discussion, and to cover new vocabulary.

Day 1 — Meet classmates, discuss past business ventures, and read Chapter 1 — “Slump.”
Day 2 — Chapter 2
Day 3 — Chapter 3
Day 4 — Chapter 4
Day 5 — Chapters 5 & 6
Day 6 — Chapter 7 
Day 7 — Chapter 8
Day 8 — Chapters 9 & 10
Day 9 — Chapters 11 & 12
Day 10 — Chapters 13 & 14 Followed by discussion of future business plans.

Discussion/Learning - 10 minutes
Students will use the chat box to write down responses to open ended questions that will be posed throughout the story.
