This five week class will review the Six Syllable types. Each week two videos will be available and include short assignments to reinforce learning. I will be available the entire month to answer any questions your child might have and to provide feedback and encouragement. I will respond to any messages you or your child sends me as quickly as possible, usually the same day. 5 lessons//5 Weeks
Week 1Lesson 1Closed and Open SyllablesWe will learn how to determine if a syllable is open or closed.Week 2Lesson 2Vowel Consonant E Syllables (aka Magic E)We will learn about Magic E who gives all its power to the vowel.Week 3Lesson 3Vowel-R Syllables (aka Bossy R or R Controlled)We will learn about Bossy R and how it doesn't let the vowel say its sound.Week 4Lesson 4Final Stable Syllables (aka Consonant LE)We will learn about words that end with Consonant LE.Week 5Lesson 5Vowel Pair Syllables (aka Vowel Team)There are so many vowel pairs! We will focus on the most common ones.
This five week class will review the Six Syllable Types. By the end of the class, your child will have had a refresher course on all six types.
I have over 150 hours of Orton Gillingham based training in reading strategies specifically targeted to dyslexic students. (Which are beneficial to all beginning readers.) I have been a dyslexia specialist for twelve years in the public school setting and have privately tutored students for the past fifteen years.
Homework Offered
Short optional assignments will be provided to reinforce learning.Assessments Offered
I will send home optional assignments for your child to complete that will demonstrate their understanding of the Six Syllable Types. Parents can send a picture of their child's work for me to check and give feedback.Grades Offered
