Beginner - Advanced Level
I use the science of reading to teach your learner reading skills. After an initial assessment, we will develop goals for future lessons based on your learner's current reading level and needs. 🅱🅴🅶🅸🅽🅽🅴🆁 🆁🅴🅰🅳🅴🆁: I use a systematic phonics approach with Orton-Gillingham strategies to review prior knowledge and build a strong foundation in reading. This includes writing and spelling practice, as reading and writing are reciprocal. 🅰🅳🆅🅰🅽🅲🅴🅳 🆁🅴🅰🅳🅴🆁: We work on specific goals such as, vocabulary, spelling, word morphology, reading fluency, and reading comprehension. My goal is to fill in the knowledge gaps and move each learner to become a stronger reader. Lessons include a mix of direct instruction and the use of interactive activities. 𝕋𝕒𝕣𝕘𝕖𝕥 𝕊𝕜𝕚𝕝𝕝𝕤 Spelling: what strategies can you use to determine the correct English spelling of words? Pronunciation/reading/decoding: how to pronounce and read new words Fluency: how to read smoothly and naturally. Comprehension: What does it all mean? Summary: what details are important, and what do you leave out? Word Morphology: how does a prefix or suffix change a word? Word Etymology: what language do English words come from, if not English? How can knowing this information help with reading, writing, and spelling? I use a combination of a live presentation using tiles, puzzles, games, and sentence work using a document camera to teach a lesson. Some learners may read a short story shared through Zoom. Don't hesitate to contact me for a day and time that works best for your learner.

Learning Needs
I love working with learners with specific needs, as they often just need a slower pace and more repetition. I welcome fidgets and encourage movement and a quick brain-break to maintain focus.
Parental Guidance
More advanced readers will use Nearpod in class to complete reading activities. No personal information is necessary, other than their first initial.
Supply List
