This class offers 30 reading lessons for readers that need tutoring on a level G/ H. This is mid first grade. Each instructional lesson will begin with a review of previously taught skills, I will introduce the new book. Next, we will build word families and blends by hammering, snapping and clapping the words. We will picture walk the new read by looking at the pictures and finding unfamiliar words. We will look at the structure of the text. I will model a reading strategy during this time. Then, students will practice by reading the new book. We will write a short summary of the book. I will do frequent progress monitoring checks to affirm mastery. This includes running records and comprehension checks. I believe in build on the student's prior knowledge and successes. Reading should be an enjoyable experience.
Learning Goals
The student will learn phonics and decoding skills through a multi-sensory approach by making word families and reading familiar and new books.

I have a master’s degree plus 30. I am certified in elementary education, early childhood education, special education, learning disabilities and Primary Montessori. I have the literacy endorsement and I have also been the Literacy Teacher of the Year and Teacher of the Year. I am trained in Project Read.
