In this 60-minute personalized session, I work with your child to assess their reading (comprehension, decoding, or both). I will find out their strengths as well as areas of growth. I will make recommendations on next steps you can take.

This assessment is perfect for any parent who has questions about their child's reading. Whether you're not sure how to proceed with homeschooling, need a second opinion for what the school is saying or just want to know what your child knows - this is the right choice. During this 60-minute session, I will work with your child for 30-45 minutes to examine their reading strengths and weaknesses in the areas that you report as needing attention. Then we will spend approximately 15 minutes...
You as a parent will have a better and deeper understanding of what your child is good at in reading and what they need to work on in reading (if necessary). If you're a homeschool parent, you will walk away feeling more confident in supporting your child at home with the program that you're using or receive recommendations on other programs you can use to better support your child.
I am an experieced special education director and teacher, I am a literacy specialist and I've been working with students that struggle with reading for 10+ years both as a classroom teacher, as a small group teacher, and a tutor.
If you have spelling concerns it would be helpful if you had a whiteboard and dry erase marker available during the assessment but it's not required.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
