Reading and Writing With Purpose - A Book Club for Gifted Students!
Class experience
US Grade 6 - 9
Welcome to the Reading with Purpose book club! In this book club, we will meet ten times over the semester to discuss our books. We will read a book every two weeks, and students will respond with a written reading response and be ready to discuss the books with peers. Students will share their thoughts during our discussion and through weekly reading responses. One reading response is due for every book, and students will have clear instructions and a rubric to help them with this process....
Students will become more engaged and critical readers and will be able to share their opinions and thoughts with their peers confidently.
I have been running book clubs in person and online for over 10 years. I have experience working with students ages 8 and up and approach all topics in an age-appropriate way. If students need to be redirected, I will do that. I always listen to students and their opinions making them feel heard and appreciated for their thoughts.
