Reading and Spelling Support (Orton Gillingham) (Level 4) (Dyslexia Friendly)
In this ongoing class students will learn higher level phonics spelling rules such as "the three sounds of "ed" and -ge ve -dge" This is a great class for students who are already reading but need extra help on their spelling.

In this class your child will be taught their higher level phonics spelling rules using the Orton Gillingham multi-sensory approach to learning. Students will learn how to listen for the sound, read it within a word, write it down, and find it within a text. This class is a good fit for students who can spell vowel teams and diphthongs but are looking for more challenging spelling words. Class Routine -Introductions & supply check -Would you rather ice breaker -Interactive Mini Lesson -Practice the taught skill using a Kahoot -Show me something FUN! -Pretend "family photo" and closing The Orton-Gillingham Approach is a proven reading strategy designed to help students with dyslexia or other learning differences be successful readers. This is a perfect class for students who have been identified with dyslexia or who have a difficult time picking up reading. No matter your child's learning challenges they will be welcome with open arms and included in all of our fun! We will play interactive games together to create a positive learning environment. Students will be encouraged to try their best, hug their mistakes, and cheer on their classmates! Please note that the letters and sounds are not taught in alphabetical order for a reason. Week of September 5th-9th (Consonant -le (bubble, circle jungle, handle, humble) Week of September 12th-16th (Consonant -le (bubble, circle jungle, handle, humble) Week of September 19th-23rd (Open syllable (hi, no, so, we, go) Week of September 26th-30th (Syllable division) Week of October 3rd- 7th Review Week of October 10th- 14th Review Week of October 17th-21st Mrs. Howell is having a baby!!! Classes paused for baby mama snuggle time. In every class students will be given a tailored printable worksheet that connects with the skill that is taught. This worksheet will be posted in the classroom 24 hours before the class starts. The following list of supplies will be needed by all students every week. My classes are interactive and engaging, featuring phonics games and collaborative activities that encourage connection and creativity. I specialize in working with students with disabilities, including (but not limited to) Dyslexia, ADHD, Autism, and Apraxia of Speech.
