Description

Class Experience

***For Ages 5-18!***
Students who has difficulty decoding texts will be taught using an Orton-Gillingham based method.  This method will help students learn to decode and spell.  Marie trained at Southern Methodist University's graduate program specializing in dyslexia therapy.  She has over 200 hours of teaching experience in teaching dyslexia therapy.  Marie is a Texas certified teacher with 20 years of teaching experience.

Let me tell you a bit about myself:
+ I am a doctoral student!  I am working on my Ed.D in Curriculum and Instruction.
+ I have taught for 20 years.
+ I am an avid reader!  I want to ignite a love of reading in my students.
+ I am a published writer.  
+ I have taught over 3.5 thousand online classes.
+ My philosophy is that the more students are talking, laughing, creating and interacting, the more they are learning.  
+ I have 7 children...2 girls and 5 boys!

Students will need access to a shared Google Drive.  Students will need a touch screen device.  Chromebooks do not work well with this program.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

This is a mastery based program.  Students will not move forward in their lessons until they have mastered all components of each lesson.

1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
