Beginner Level
The goal for this class is to help children learn basic phonics and decoding. Teaching students that there is a relationship between written letters and spoken sounds. Children are taught, for example, that the letter “a” represents the sound /a/, and that it is the first letter in ant, apple, and air. When children understand sound letters they can sound out and read new words. Frequent opportunities to for children to apply what they are learning about letters and sounds to the reading of words, sentences, and stories.
