In this one on one tutoring session, the primary goal is to empower young learners with strong foundational reading skills and a lifelong love for reading. Through tailored instruction and engaging activities, our objectives include enhancing phonemic awareness, decoding skills, and fluency. We aim to expand vocabulary, comprehension strategies, and critical thinking abilities, ensuring students confidently navigate various texts. By the end of our sessions, learners will not only demonstrate improved reading proficiency but also feel more confident, enthusiastic, and equipped to tackle new reading challenges independently.
Literacy development was always a passion for me, especially when I was teaching in urban education. My undergrad degree in Elementary Education wasn't enough to support my students literacy development. This is why I went back to school and received my masters and doctorate in reading and literacy. This has allowed me to look at alternative methods in literacy development to help struggling readers.

Reading surveys are valuable tools used by educators to understand and tap into students' interests, preferences, and reading habits. These surveys gather crucial information that helps in tailoring reading materials and strategies to match the diverse needs of learners. Informal assessments play a crucial role in educators' teaching practices by providing valuable insights into students' understanding, progress, and learning needs. Theses assessments will be done in class. This information is valuable to me so I can plan accordingly to the learners needs.Grades Offered
