This class is for the FIRST book of the Bad Kitty Series: Bad Kitty Gets a Bath. This class is to help give young readers the joy of reading through fun activities for reading comprehension and memory recall. Students will be able to identify the different parts of a book: front cover, title, table of contents, and back cover Students will be able to complete a KWL chart as they read the book. Students will be able to discuss about what they learn from the story. Students will be able to learn about how to find context clues for vocabulary. Students will be able to place a story in order from beginning to end. Students will be able to take what they learn from reading and apply it in real life situations. Students will learn about taking care of cats, specifically how to bathe a cat and reading a cat's body language for stress.

Bad Kitty: Bad Kitty Gets a Bath by Nick Bruel Activity sheets will be posted in the classroom once the class has started. You will NEED to print out the worksheets BEFORE class for your learner to fill out during class. Any other material will be through zoom's whiteboard feature.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There are cartoon pictures of a cat making a mess in the house in avoiding getting a bath. The cat does not attack anyone within the book but you see a picture of a character's hands with bandages from cat scratches. There is an explosion picture to show how much cats hate water/baths.
Please have a copy of the book available before the start of class and for the remaining 3 weeks. Copies do not need to be purchased and can be borrowed from local libraries, be digital copies, or be an audiobook version (although there are many great pictures that it may be a disadvantage for the audiobook). Stores to purchase Bad Kitty books include local bookstores, Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Costco (the whole series set), Walmart, Target, Thirftbooks.com, Books-a-million, and possibly thrift stores like Goodwill or if your library has a used bookstore itself.
