Reading ABC Boot Camp- Phonics to Reading FAST! Self-Paced

In this class students will learn how to read all 26 letters of the alphabet. We will use songs, pictures, books, and motions to remember the letters and sounds. Students will get a printable book, hat, and worksheet for each week.

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Students will complete a hat, worksheet, and letter book each week. They will also upload videos to the classroom to share their learning.
Assessment
Students will be assessed every 3 weeks by sending a video saying the letter names and sounds. A video of directions will be given.

Welcome to my class! 

In this Self Paced Course, students will learn all 26 letter names and letter sounds. We will use pictures and movements to help remember each sound in letter. After learning 4 letters students will also begin working on blending the new sounds together to become a reader! Each week students will receive a letter hat, letter worksheet, and letter book to make and continue learning. Lessons will build on each other and with each letter new words can be read!

This ABC boot camp class is perfect for learners who need to work at their own pace. Each week there is are 3 letter lessons, 1 interactive game or activity, and 1 goodbye scavenger hunt! (5 lessons total)

*Letter Videos: We will be using songs, pictures, videos, and hand movements to learn and remember each letter. Please bring something to practice writing letters for our writing part. Students can write large or small. Students may also trace letters written in highlighter you write before.

*Weekly Classwork:
- Letter hat: create a letter hat with step by step instructions in a video. Upload a photo to the classroom to share your hat with the class!
- Letter Worksheets: practice writing and circling the new letters. Upload a photo to the classroom for Teacher Amy to see. 
- Letter Book: fold and read our letter book together with step by step instructions in a video. Upload a video of you reading your new book for Teacher Amy to see.

*Weekly Activities, Games and Challenges
-every week we will play a different interactive game like a scavenger hunt, what's missing?, solve a puzzle, solve the clues, Kahoots, and more!

*Class Weekly Goodbye Scavenger Hunt Videos: Students will record a video and share the letters they have learned this week by saying the letter name, sound, and sharing an object from home that begins with the letter.

*Assessments: After weeks 3, 6, and 9 students will be given a mini assessment to test their learning. They will point to the letters and say their names and sounds. Specific critique and praise will be sent to each learner in a video from Teacher Amy. These are optional and please reach out to Teacher Amy when you are ready for your assessment video.

Lesson 1:
The Letter Mm
 Students will be introduced to Teacher Amy, Adrian, and have fun doing the Alphabet Chant. We will practice the name and sound for the letter M. We will read a story with M words. 
Lesson 2:
The Letter Aa
 Today we are learning about the letter A. We will review the letter M and then learn our new letter. We will practice writing the letter A. We will learn two new words today. 
Lesson 3:
The Letter Ss
 We will learn our third letter this week! The letter S! We will also review Mm and Aa. Be ready to practice writing the letter S. You can print your worksheet out and complete the coloring letter hunt. 
Lesson 4:
Weekly Activity - Letter Hunt Sort
 Complete the google drive letter sort activity for the letters M, A, and S! Follow along with Teacher Amy if you need help. 

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Depending on their age, some students may need help cutting and gluing. They may also need assistance recording themselves and uploading the video.
Supply List
Pencil, glue, scissors, coloring tools.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
