Students will explore characters from some wonderful winter tales, such as, The Elves and the Shoemaker and The Velveteen Rabbit with Reader's Theater.

This is a great course for students who are new to acting and love to read! Students will learn characterization with the added benefit of increasing both reading fluency and comprehension. No memorization is required. Students will exercise what they have learned by performing Reader's Theater versions of some wonderful winter tales. Class Outline: Each class will begin with vocal warm ups. Week 1 - Introduction to the process of Reader's Theater with The Elves and the Shoemaker script. Week 2 - Discuss characterization with The Long Winter script. Class discussion about what worked well and what needs to be improved. Week 3 - Practice characterization with William's New Year's Day script. Class discussion about what worked well and what needs to be improved. Week 4 - Students will use all of the skills from the last three weeks as they perform The Velveteen Rabbit script. Class discussion about what they have learned over the course. Individual feedback about overall performance. Parents will receive overall feedback about their child's work after the last class.

The teacher will provide Reader's Theater scripts as an attachment before each class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
