I have a BA in Education from Queen's University (Kingston, Ontario, Canada) and a reading endorsement from Drake University (Des Moines, Iowa, USA). I have worked as a reading interventionist with the Des Moines Public School District. My role as a reading interventionist was to strengthen learners' proficiency in reading by offering small group instruction covering a specific area of the five pillars of literacy (phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and text comprehension). I love helping students find confidence and enjoyment in reading by creating fun, yet targeted, reading lessons that will give learner's a solid foundation of literacy skills.
A copy of the reader's theater script will be available to print for practice and review. The script is posted in the classroom each Sunday but printing is always optional because I will have the story available on slides for us to read together as well.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
