Description

Class Experience

This class is for students who enjoy the Dog Man books by Dav Pilkey. Readers' Theater is a wonderful way to broaden a child's understanding of a text, as well as foster confidence in their public speaking skills. 

Students will receive a PDF script to print or download ahead of class. After introductions, we will chat and tell each other some jokes. We read through the script together once, discussing how to read the parts of a play, switching parts, and stopping to discuss the characters,...

Students will learn how to read a play, and deepen their understanding of the Dog Man characters.

I have a BA in theater arts, where my Capstone research involved integrating theater arts practices into elementary school classrooms. I worked as a theater arts professional for ten years and have been working with children of all ages for more than twenty years!

A short PDF script will be provided. Learners are encouraged to print or download the script to a separate device to read along. 
Pencil for notes and/or highlighter are optional

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

The script we will read is based on the Dog Man books by Dav Pilkey.
