Choosing from a list of chapter books, your learner will develop important skills while reading aloud with a Certified Science of Reading Specialist. We will make predictions, read, and practice comprehension live in class together.
Class Experience
US Grade 3 - 6
Beginner - Advanced Level
During this 1:1 class, your learner and I will use shared reading to complete a chapter book of their choosing with teacher recommendations provided. 🗓 Depending on the book and learner, we could complete a short chapter book in as few as two classes. A more advanced book requires numerous classes to complete. 👩🎓 As a Certified Science of Reading Specialist, a homeschooling parent x4 and a literacy tutor.. reading is my passion! To ensure effective tutoring, the teacher suggests meeting 2x per week. Book additional recurring meetings after the initial purchase.- The #1 goal of this class is to encourage a love of reading. If reading is not enjoyable, the learner won't pick up a book on their own. While doing so, we will also develop reading comprehension skills, extending vocabulary knowledge, improved decoding accuracy, confidence in reading aloud, and connecting the story to our own lives.

As a homeschooling parent of neurodiverse learners (ADHD, ASD, Intellectual Disability and Giftedness), neurodiversity is welcome in my classroom! Please communicate with me before class so I can best support and understand your learner.
Students should be reading at least beginner chapter books for this class. For younger learners, please see my "Beginner Reading | CVC Words & Phonics" or "Read to Me!" classes.
1 file available upon enrollmentThe learner needs to acquire a copy of the book for the length of time it takes for us to read the book together. I recommend supporting your local public library.
