I have worked as a classroom teacher and a reading teacher/specialist in a variety of educational settings, offering reading support for kids with learning difficulties.
Homework Offered
Students should read daily, either independently or with a partner, for 10-20 minutes, depending on age. If parents would like their children to have extra practice, skill-focused materials will be provided, though this homework is not mandatory.0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
The first 1-2 sessions will be devoted to giving the student a literacy assessment to find areas of need. Progress monitoring and informal assessments will be given regularly to check on the student's progress on a skill. Every 6 weeks a more formal assessment will be given to re-evaluate the student's needs. If a more formal battery of assessments is wanted by the parents, this can be done by a separate fee.Grades Offered
Any materials needed will be provided ahead of the scheduled class. General Materials Needed: Notebook/Paper Pencil Crayons or Colored Pencils
Parents may be given materials that need to be cut out or prepared ahead of time. This involves the use of scissors, which is a potential hazard.
