Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 6
Is your child getting enough reading time with his/her teacher? If not, I am here to help. Read-In and Play-In with Teacher Cindy is a 45-minute, 1:1 self-directed reading program for your child to practice reading aloud. I believe that finding "Just Right Book", exercising reading strategies and keeping a constant schedule is necessary for reading success. In addition to reading, your child will take two brain and/or body breaks to reset. Some activities will include: Find a Star, Simon Says, Scavenger Hunt, and perhaps some exercise activities.

MI planto develop a friendly, teacher relationship with your child. Hence, getting to know your child's interests, preferred superhero/ princess, favorite food/ movie/ animals/ color, previous travels etc. can give me a head start. I hope to establish a good foundation early on so we can dive into our virtual library. There are plenty of online books so if there is a book your child wants to read, please share it with me on ZOOM. If not, I will always be ready with an appropriately levelled book to share with your child. I will try my best to match his/her interests and knowledge base.

In each lesson, your child will be given a Super Tip on how to become a better reader.
Some topics will include:
What are sight words? Why do we need to know them?
What is the difference between the alphabet and phonic sounds?
What are blends? What are diagraphs?
What is reading comprehension? How can I read and understand better?
How to improve my reading fluency?
How can singing help?

I will introduce some Play-In between books. The goal here is to keep student attention high and decrease stress while moving and laughing. You will be hearing lots of laughter!

I am a compassionate and professional teacher with one ultimate goal for your child. I hope your child logs off from each class feeling confident, happy and satisfied with his/her reading time with me. I look forward to read-in and play-in with your child!

You can look forward to a happy and confident reader.
