Let's read a book about sharks! In this read and draw class, we will read the nonfiction text, "Surprising Sharks" by Nicola Davies. I will be asking comprehension questions throughout the book and then we will retell what we learned about sharks. We will also discuss how we know that the text is a nonfiction text based on what we have read. After reading the book, I will provide a directed drawing lesson for students to draw their very own sharks. Then we will write a short story about our...
Students will be able to answer relevant questions about the text and follow guided steps to complete a drawing about sharks.
Students will need to bring their imagination, something to draw on (or the printed page I will have for you with lines to write), and something to color with.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
