During this read aloud class, pre-reading and emergent reading learners will listen to a story being read and then will have an opportunity to try reading out loud with teacher support.

Each week of this course, I will read a selection from the Piggie & Elephant series by Mo Willems. After I complete the initial reading, we will re-read the book, giving students a chance to read (and act out) the parts in the story. This class is designed for students who are not yet able to read independently. This class will build confidence, help with prosody(reading with expression), and help with the memorization of sight words. After reading, students might be asked to share their favorite part of the book, discuss which character is their favorite, or think of an alternative ending for the book.
