US Grade Kindergarten
Does your learner struggle to put words on paper? Maybe they do not enjoy writing, but have a lot to say. In this small group class, we will cover listening, speaking, connecting to a story, sharing thoughts and putting them into a spoken and then written sentence. Learners will listen to a short story and then discuss ideas for a written response and then work together to write a sentence or two about a topic of their choice. Story choice will be based on student interest. My job is to coach your learner through putting their idea into a manageable sentence and then stretching out words as they write the sentence along with me. High frequency words will also be covered as part of the writing process. The course is limited to 3 students to allow each learner to share ideas through conversations and to work through writing a sentence together. Learners should be able to write most letters of the alphabet and have some knowledge of letter sounds.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their ability to write a simple sentence on a topic of their choice and correctly spell age-appropriate high frequency words.
