In this 4-week FLEX class, we will learn about classic and/or famous foods and will create them again while putting our own spin on them. This is a fun class, with easy recipes, and freedom to construct a dish to your liking. Session 2.

In this class, we will learn about classic/famous foods and try our hand at altering the recipe. Can we improve a classic? Are savory Rice Krispies delicious? Do green beans add a nice crunch to grilled cheese? Peanut butter and pickles...barbecue sauce...raspberries? Let's experiment and see what we can make! Students will pick up cooking/baking concepts as they recreate their dishes but the main goal is to have fun and share our ideas with each other.
Every week, students will have a video to watch, a quiz to complete (informative and/or fun, not like a normal quiz), some discussion questions to answer, a food item to prepare, and a picture or video to post. Students are not required to do everything but I would like them to at least (1) watch the video so they understand how to make the recipe, and (2), share what they made so we can all have fun seeing and discussing the different creations.
This is a very flexible class. Students may need a specific item occasionally but most recipes can be made with typical cooking and baking supplies you already have. I try to make all recipes using everyday kitchen gadgets so there is no need to buy special equipment. As the recipe ingredients are not set in stone, students can adapt the recipe to fit with whatever they have available at home.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Students will be preparing dishes at home and may need to use the stove, oven, microwave, knives, and/or small appliances. Please review the recipes every week to be aware of any allergy concerns. Students will utilize Kahoot (Outschool approved) during class to take fun quizzes that cover food facts and key concepts about the recipe and/or preparation. An account is not required. The link will be shared in the Outschool classroom every week.
