Do you love sharks as much as I do? With over 1,000 different species of sharks, we are going to take a deep dive into the ocean to learn about some of the rarest sharks in the world. What are they named? What do they look like? Where do they live? Answer those questions and MORE. We are going to take a look at some very hard to find and extremely fascinating sharks and learn some interesting facts about each along the way. The class will be taught using a slideshow presentation, where we can see images of real sharks and learn facts to build our knowledge together. Learners are encouraged to ask questions as we go. Great for a science class, a special interest class, or afterschool class. There is no background knowledge required. There will be an interactive game to play at the end of class as a review.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about some of the rarest species of sharks. They will learn a few interesting facts about each shark too, like how they survive, what they eat, and more!

Hi! My name is Ms. Jess. I have been a classroom teacher for 9 years. My passions include teaching young learners about marine science, reading and math. I live where it's always warm so I am passionate about the ocean and the animals that live in it.
I have a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a bachelor's degree in Spanish. I am a K-6 certified teacher and have worked in the public school system for 9 years, and worked for 1 year in a private school setting. I have my ESOL (English Speakers of another Language) endorsement and have almost completed my reading endorsement. I have taught 1st grade, pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten. Currently, I am a reading interventionist for grades K-4! Just before accepting this position, I taught Kindergarten for 7 years. I have worked with many students who have an IEP and many students whose native language is something other than English. My year teaching pre-kindergarten was in a private school and I was fortunate to create the curriculum. I did this by focusing on common core and state standards, while also considering what is expected of incoming Kindergarteners.
My classroom is a warm and welcoming place where young learners thrive and time flies because we are having so much fun! I can't wait to meet you!
