It's raptor season, guys! This is a one-time class that focuses on learning about birds of prey. Students will learn about the different types of birds that make up this group such as eagles, vultures, falcons, hawks, and others. They will learn to identify 35 birds of prey that are common to almost extirpated in North America, plus 4 bonus birds worth mentioning in this group. We will explore the natural history, ecology, and distribution of this group, as well as learn identification tips and some interesting facts. This class is great for experienced birders who want to learn more about raptors, but everyone is welcome regardless of previous knowledge and experience. This class will be a relaxed, lecture-based course with opportunities for discussions and questions. Students can participate as much or as little as they want.
Learning Goals
Students will learn identification tips and interesting facts about 40 birds of prey.
