Sure, Halloween is months away, but that doesn't mean we can't write a scary story. Join me (alongside my very skinny friend, Gene Skelly), and let's write! This is a small group class, with a maximum of only 4 learners. Here's what you can expect from this class: First, we'll brainstorm some ideas of characters, settings, conflicts, and Halloween themed objects. The more ideas, the better! One example from each category will be randomly chosen. What will the story be about? We won't know until we put our ideas together. But it could be something like... *in a graveyard, a ghost with a bat sidekick and a leaky cauldron must escape a swarm of murder hornets ‼️ 🐝 ‼️ *in an abandoned hospital, a mummy with candy corn and a broom falls victim to an ancient curse 🏥 *in an attic, a spider wearing a cape is trapped and feels increasingly claustrophobic 🕸️ Once we put all of the pieces of our story topic together (something like the examples above), it's time to write. You should have approximately 20-25 minutes to make something spooky happen. To finish class, we'll listen to each other's stories and hopefully won't be too scared--hey, there's no shame in sleeping with the lights on. Your story doesn't have to be scary! If you'd rather write a funny one, go for it. If you end up not liking the topic that's chosen, feel free to write about something else. By the way... Don't go all Stephen King on us. We don't need graphic details. Keep it PG, please. 🙋Questions you may be wondering…🤔 -Do I have to be on camera? Nope. After a quick video check-in, feel free to keep your camera off. -Can I eat? Sure! -Can I listen to music? As long as we can't hear it, that's fine. -Do I have to share? Nope. -What if I want to share but I don't want to read aloud? No problem. Put it in the chat or post it in the classroom. -What if I want to share but it's too scary? Hmmm. Use your best judgement here. Any other questions? Please ask! ⭐️If you enjoy this class, consider enrolling in Weird Writing Weekly (linked below in the "Teacher Recommends This Class Next" section). It has the same structure as this class, but the stories aren't as creepy--usually.⭐️ I keep my classes open up until the start time and will only cancel if no one is enrolled, which means it is possible to have a class with only one learner. *Expired promotions* Spring Break Sale: last week of March 2024 Halfway to Halloween Promo: May 2024

Teacher expertise and credentials
Maryland Teaching Certificate in English/Language Arts
As a former middle and high school English teacher, I've taught many lessons on creative writing, and I've used this method of putting random elements together into one story with students. They always had a blast coming up with their stories and sharing them.
