Homework will be optional, but strongly encouraged. This is an asynchronous (flex) class.
Paper and pencil or computer/tablet for taking notes and writing vocabulary words. All reading material, graphic organizers, notes and other resources will be provided in our Outschool Classroom.
This is an asynchronous (Flex) class utilizing Outschool platform messaging. There is no informal assessment. Parents will assess their child's improvement in reading. Continued ongoing communication via Outschool messaging regarding your child is offered.
No live meetings, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
All material (reading passages, graphic organizers/worksheets) and any other resources will be provided in our Outschool classroom (links, PDF files, slides). The short stories will be provided for you (via link and/or PDF file). Two short stories will be selected (with the permission of the author). One will be a read aloud and the other will be for your child to read on their own and use the strategies they learned in class. Thereafter, students are encouraged to read text of their choosing for a minimum of 15 minutes per day independently.
