Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
When children read good books, they not only learn about the story and characters but also gain insight into their own own thoughts, emotions and views. Concurrently, the student becomes a more confident and competent reader. Therefore, I offer book discussion classes for children from ages 7-13 years old. I have selected good books from my childhood as well as modern titles I have discovered reading with my own children. It is my desire for learners to use books as tools to develop academically, mentally and socio-emotionally. I believe that when we foster a love for reading in our children we set them on the path to be lifelong learners and leaders. And reading quality books about young, relatable characters helps budding readers learn to navigate childhood successfully and become better readers.

I hold a bachelors and masters degrees in Social Work. I am certified as a school social worker which allows me to instruct as a resource teacher. I have homeschooled my own children who are preschool and elementary-aged. I also taught at a Classical Conversations coop. I possess over twenty years of experience working with youth of all ages. I have worked as a childcare worker, case manager, teacher and have volunteered many hours in children's programs. I truly believe the children are our future (feel free to sing along)! Because of this belief, I make it my personal duty to invest in young minds.

Lastly, I am also an avid crafter with sewing skills. Therefore, I offer crafting classes and opportunities for creativity in all my classes.
