Description

Class Experience

Knowing the genre of a text helps the reader activate prior knowledge, anticipate events, and analyze the text.  This knowledge also helps the reader organize his or her own thoughts and recall important information in the text, thus facilitating comprehension.

In each of the five sessions, one student will receive individualized instruction on how to identify five types of genres and a framework with which to actively engage in and explore age-appropriate content with ease and familiarity....

The student will receive individualized instruction on how to identify five types of genres and a framework with which to actively engage in and explore age-appropriate content with ease and familiarity using fiction and non-fiction text.

The student will be evaluated through observation and informal assessment.

30 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
