Students will learn the sounds of letters, short and long vowels, blending, spelling patterns, sight words and clues to decode new words. Reading comprehension is also incorporated.  I will assess your child's current literacy level and move your child along to increase reading fluency and build self esteem. 

As a classroom educator, I have many years of experience with teaching reading at a variety of levels. I have taught many levels: preschool, kindergarten with highly specific training in pre reading skills to college level developmental reading classes. As a teacher with an Masters in Education with a Reading Specialist and Early Childhood concentration, I can tailor your little ones classes.  While teaching the developmental reading class for college freshmen, I assisted those students in achieving their dreams of comprehending college level material. With my diverse background, I can assist your student in moving forward wherever they are in reading ability. 

Homework Offered
Reading every day at home is necessary to building solid reading ability. Although there is no official homework, students are always encouraged to read, read, read!

Assessments Offered
I use a variety of assessments. Using my classroom skills and worksheets, as well as games, I can assess when a student is memorizing the letter sounds, blending and becoming fluent in reading. When students are reading fluently and are able to retell the story, I know they are on the correct path.
Grades Offered

None unless your student wants to bring their favorite books or stuffed animals to read to.
