Welcome to Rainbow Science! Each week, we will explore science and art using colors. These are a combination of art projects and science projects put together. Some weeks we will explore what happens when colors are mixed together. Other times, the learners can use whatever colors they want in order to make something fun and fantastic. Be ready to laugh, explore, and maybe get a little messy. ***The supply list below will be updated weekly to show the supplies needed for that week. I will also post it in the classroom on Sun or Mon. *** In this class, I will guide the students as we do the science experiment together. I give opportunities for the learners to make their own hypotheses of how and why the experiment works. After they have made some guesses, I will guide them through the explanation. Learners are encouraged to do the experiments themselves. There will be time for questions and showing off your experiment as we go. ***Since this is for young learners and might be a bit messy, having a parent nearby is highly recommended. Some topics are subject to change, but all changes will be posted in a timely manner. Since these experiments revolve around colors, make sure you have food coloring, paint, or markers on hand. We use those often. ***CAPILLARY ACTION: Week of June 25 - Blooming Paper Flowers Week of July 2 - Chromatography flowers/ butterflies Week of July 9 - Skittles Rainbow Week of July 16 - Walking Water/ Colored carnations Future Lessons: ***MIXING COLORS (Primary/Secondary): Puffy Paint Painting with Colored Ice Cubes (Freeze 4 red, 4 blue, and 4 yellow ice cubes overnight using food coloring) Water xylophone Fluffy Slime ***COLORFUL CREATIONS Rainbow Milk Magic Messages (paper towels) Floating Pictures (with Dry Erase markers) Rainbow reflections (CDs) ***ARTWORK TO KEEP Pendulum painting (or Cicle Rainbows with paint) Stained Glass Window Kaleidoscope Grow a Rainbow ***DENSITY: Rainbow Density (rainbow in a Jar) Upside-Down Fireworks in a Jar Lava Lamp (3 ways) Raincloud in a Jar ***FIZZLING SCIENCE: Fizzling Rainbow Fizzling Salt Design Hidden Colors Fruit Volcanos

Teacher expertise and credentials
I love looking around me and asking questions. "What if....?" Science is full of "what if" questions. Come explore simple science experiments with me. Most of the items can be found around your home or easily found at the store. I also have a love for math... especially math games. Join me as we make math fun! Many parents and learners appreciate the way I bring laughter to the classroom.
I have been an educator for 10 years: online ESL teacher for 5 years, and a Kindergarten teacher for 5 years before that. I have worked with children of all ages in various summer school and online activities. I have a Bachelor's in Music Education from Boise State University and a Masters in Pastoral Studies from Multnomah University. I live in Idaho, USA with my husband and my 2 young daughters (Ages 2 and 5). We enjoy reading books, getting a little messy, and taking walks together.
