This is a social group where queer tweens/teens and allies can come together in a safe space to talk about their goals/hopes/dreams, current events, interests/hobbies, and more.
Class experience
This class is a place designated for learners who identify as a part of the LGBTQIA+ as well as allies of the community. Being a queer teen comes with its challenges and the purpose of this class is for these tweens/teens to just be themselves. Paired with my facilitation skills learners will be able to engage with each other in learner led discussions, talk about current events, share their hobbies and interests, and have a good time socializing within their community. As a queer and non-binary person myself I feel it is important to create safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ youth in the community. I have a Bachelors degree in Women's and Gender Studies with a concentration in Human Sexualities and Queer Studies. Along with this club I also facilitate a LGBTQ+ Graphic Novels Club for Teens here on Outschool.
We will be touching on and discussing topics relating to sexual identities, gender, and the greater LGBTQIA+ community. No forms of bigotry or discrimination will be allowed here whether that be towards the LGBTQIA+ community or other marginalized communities (racial. ethnic, religious, etc.). Transphobia and homophobia are not allowed here as this is a space dedicated solely for affirming the learners enrolled in this class and allowing them to lead the discussions they would like to have.
