3 live meetings
2 in-class hoursClass Experience
In this 3-day summer camp, artists will have fun with the colors of the rainbow and create unique art masterpieces with drawing and painting techniques! Each meeting will spotlight a new set of colors for our drawing and painting projects! We will start class with introductions, and the focus colors of the day. We will show and share items in those colors through photos, pictures, and realia! Then we will have fun creating a drawing or painting focused around each color group and using a specific medium like oil pastels, tempera paint, watercolors, or markers. I will share my techniques and examples for artists to try (via a separate art cam). I hope they will be inspired to explore their own ideas as well! I plan to use breakout rooms for a few minutes so artists can interact together and motivate each other by sharing ideas. (this will depend on size and nature of the group) Day One- Warm colors- red, orange, yellow Day Two Cool colors- green, blue, purple Day Three Black and White * Please set up an art kit for camp before it starts so this is available each day. This way artists have all the supplies together and we can start right away. During the course of the camp you will need: -pencil and eraser -markers, including black -oil pastels -crayons -watercolors -tempera paints -water cups -brushes -mixed media art paper (that hold up to paints well) -plain, thin drawing paper (even printer paper!) *Please make sure you are set up to receive email updates about the class for yourself and your artist and check in to the classroom for updates and timely information. There may be times that lessons need to be adjusted/updated/altered. Thank you for your understanding.
Learning Goals
My goal is for artists to have fun creating colorful artwork using simple supplies and to learn new techniques they can experiment with on their own.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Music or Theatre or Arts from UCLA
I graduated from UCLA with a Bachelor of Arts degree in visual arts. I have taught K-12 graders for the last 14 years in a variety of subjects, including a monthly art program that focused on art elements and the art masters. I enjoy teaching simple concepts that allow my students to experiment, explore and express themselves in new ways. I love discovering how one technique can have unexpected results. Sharing these colorful ideas with young artists makes the process even more exciting- I often learn from them as well!
