Class Experience

Learners will develop fine motor skills by keeping a steady beat with their hands using the mallets. Learners will also connect visual color cues with the creation of sound.
 1 file available upon enrollment
Learners will just need: 1. Gockenspiel with 1 or 2 mallets 2. Optional coloring page (sent upon enrollment) Most at-home glockenspiels will work fantastically! Often called a xylophone, the main difference between the two is that the bars of a glockenspiel are metal. So most likely, the instrument you may already have at home is actually a glockenspiel and will be perfect for our fun workshop. Preferably it will have at least 8 remove-able bars/tones and be color coded similar to (C) Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Dark Blue-Purple-Red. If you're looking to purchase a new instrument, my professional recommendations are: *these are affiliate links and a I would earn a percentage of the sale Westco Glockenspiel ($15-20, or Musicube "Xylophone" for Kids ( or **More advanced: InTemenos 25-note Glockenspiel ( *if your learner is planning to continue on to my multi-week glockenspiel classes, this is the instrument I recommend! Other Questions: 1. Is it ok if the short red bar is a dark purple instead of red? It's no problem as long as the C note (usually at the bottom and is the longest bar) is Red. Please discuss this with your child beforehand so they know my example with be slightly different than their instrument. 2. Will just one mallet work? Yes, don't worry about having both if your instrument only supplied one. 3. I'm shopping online and not sure what to look for. What should I search? Here's the technical verbiage: Diatonic 8-tone Glockenspiel (notes are C-3-C-4)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
