Let's play Raiders of the North Sea, the award-winning virtual board game, together on-line! This strategy game will help students build confidence, work cooperatively with others, develop memory and problem-solving skills, and even boost their logic and reasoning skills! In this class, I will spend the first 10 to 15 minutes explaining the rules of the game on the Raiders of the North Sea app. Then, we will spend the remaining class time playing through 1-2 rounds of this fun game! Learners will make decisions on how to build their Viking army, on what resources to gather and how soon to raid villages, as well as paying close attention to what resources are more valuable than others. This game is available across multiple platforms, including on the Nintendo Switch, iPad, iPhone, Steam (PC and Mac), and Android phones. Dire Wolf has kindly given me permission to use their images and their game for this class. **IMPORTANT SAFETY RULES** - In order to comply with Outschool safety standards, I require each student to join the Zoom classroom and show themselves on the video at the beginning of each class. - There will be a private game available within the app/game on each learner's device, I will give the password over Zoom. - Raiders of the North Sea is *not* an Outschool third-party approved vendor, so it is the responsibility of each parent to ensure that their learner understands cyber safety. - I will be monitoring the communication between learners to ensure learners comply with all safety standards on the private game link I provide only to registered learners. - After this class has finished, the private game link will no longer be accessible to learners, parents, or myself.
Learning Goals
Memory skills, problem-solving skills, logic and reasoning abilities, cooperative work, and communication among peers.

Parental Guidance
This game is rated for ages 10+, but I encourage all parents to assess the game for their own child's readines for the game. This game is about Vikings raiding different villages, but it is based on the real-life board game, so there is no violence whatsoever.
Learners will need to have the game Raiders of the North Sea downloaded to their device before class. Parents should be aware that this game can be played with anyone at any time on the internet, although I will be inviting the individual learners to a private game within the app. Learners will also need to have made an account through Raiders of the North Sea before the start of class.

What parents say about my classes:
"Wonderful class! My usually shy and quiet daughter loved the class and felt encouraged by Ms. Anneliese's feedback. She is excited to learn that she will continue on with the next series of classes."
"My 5 year old daughter loved the class, she was engaged the while time. She was happy singing and learning. She connected very well with the teacher. This was her first outschool class, she will be doing some more."
"We love this class! It was my son’s first exposure to reading time and he learned so much in a short amount of time. We are so grateful also that the teacher did not cancel the class even if it was only my son who enrolled in the time slot we picked."
I teach to every student's personality in my classes, regardless of their learning ability.
