When my family and I got a pet rabbit from a friend, we weren't sure how to care for it. We had to spend time researching, and I was surprised to learn that most of what I had assumed about rabbits wasn't even true. Most people lump rabbit care in with hamsters and gerbils which can cause much harm to rabbits. According to an article in National Geographic, " Widespread misunderstanding of domestic rabbits has made them one of the most abandoned pets in the United States." In this class, students will learn the proper way to care for rabbits. The following topics will be covered in class: Interesting facts about rabbits Different breeds of rabbits History of rabbits Different habitat ideas to make your pet comfortable, safe, and happy Food and the differences in brands and kinds Types of hay Water needs of rabbits and the best way to provide it for your special friend Additional supplies to keep your rabbit happy Rabbit behavior and what it means The differences between having hamsters, gerbils, and rabbits for pets
Learning Goals
Students will learn about rabbits and how to best care for them.
