Radiation is all over the place in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. This one-time course will use The Incredible Hulk (2008), Iron Man (2008), Iron Man 2 (2010), and The Avengers (2012) to provide context for understanding real-life radiation uses and problems. This class will include a teacher-led discussion and presentation (mostly images) during which students are encouraged to ask questions. I have a PhD in nuclear physics and am a huge fan of the Marvel movies.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Clips will be shown of the movies mentioned in the course description. These clips are non-violent, but please be advised that the movies they come from are rated PG-13.
