****I schedule a few weeks out at a time, if none of the times above work, click the button called "show alternative times" and create a new section. Often other learners will join in after a section is created.**** This is one of the games we play in my ongoing class called "Beat the Teacher! Fun Competition Math Games for K/1" We will begin by talking about how to be a good winner/non-winner. Although we will be in teams and one team will win, I encourage good sportsmanship. No tears are allowed. No bragging either. This is a tough life skill to learn, but playing games is a fun way to learn it. Then I will explain the rules of the game. We will spend the rest of the time playing the game. I will play on the shared screen and they will play at their table. Their board should always look like my board so they can practice moving the pieces and counting the spaces. This game incorporates counting while moving pieces, numbers bonds for 10 (1+9, 2+8, 3+7, 4+6, 5+5, etc), a little skill, a little luck, and some teamwork. Supplies (also listed in the supply section) - printout (You can use page 2 for the game pieces and buttons if you can't find something in your house) - 10 pennies or buttons - 4 game pieces (preferrable red, blue, green, yellow to match mine - M&Ms or Sorry! type game pieces work well) - 1 dice (you can use mine if you don't have one at home)
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to win and not win gracefully.
Students will count spaces accurately and move pieces the correct number of spaces.
Students will repeat the phrase (_color_ is on _____. It needs _____ more to make 10.)
