Description
Class Experience
Students will learn about the history and meaning of quilt blocks. Students will make their own quilt blocks from construction paper or fabric.
This class meets three days a week. Between each meeting, learners may use this time to prepare for the next meeting by cutting out their quilt block shapes and correctly placing them on their black construction paper for feedback on their progress.
1. pencil with an eraser 2. colored pencils or crayons 3. scissors 4. yarn (to tie the quilt blocks together) 5. glue (liquid glue works best on construction paper) 6. single hole punch 7. pack of multi-colored construction paper 8. 10 sheets of lined paper for notetaking.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Each learner will be formatively assessed on their knowledge of the specific quilt block through reading and discussion and the layout and completion of their quilt block.
1 hour 45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will read and analyze text about the history and meaning of quilt blocks.
