So many kids, including my own, hate writing. To them, it seems like a chore. In order to get them to do any, it has to be fun, at least somewhat interesting, and not complicated. That's where this class comes in. Each week, we will talk about different ways to make our writing better, including topics like planning, characters, plot, setting, descriptive language, etc. Students will be given a topic to write about, or they can choose one on their own. Students will learn that writing doesn't have to be scary or hard.
Students are encouraged to write a little every day, to get in the habit, and realize it gets easier the more often you do it.
Students should bring writing paper (or a notebook), along with a sharpened pencil and eraser, to each class. Occasionally, students will be required to print some materials off for class.
40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
